It would be nice to indicate what the output format is using a flag.
This would allow the compiler to determine whether whitespace is
significant, etc. Profiles could be set up for different output
formats.
Whitespace should be collapsed for XHTML templates, while RFC822 and
friends should only generate one line matching /^.$/
Etc, etc.
